Anadin Ultra Double Strength 400mg - 20 Capsules

Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen are for the effective relief of mild to moderate pain. Liquid fill capsules are easy to swallow and rapidly absorbed. For pain relief that can last up to 8 hours.

Anadin Ultra Indications:
For relief of rheumatic or muscular pain, pain of non-serious arthritic conditions, backache, neuralgia, migraine, headache, dental pain, dysmenorrhoea, feverishness, symptoms of colds and influenza.

Andain Ultra Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or any of the constituents in the product.
Ibuprofen is contraindicated in patients who have previously shown hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. asthma, rhinitis, or urticaria) in response to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
Active or previous peptic ulcer.
History of upper gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, related to previous NSAID therapy.
Patients with severe hepatic failure, severe renal failure or severe heart failure.
Use with concomitant NSAIDs including cyclo-oxygenase-2 specific inhibitors.
Use in third trimester of pregnancy.

Dosage for Andain Ultra:
For oral administration and short term use only.

Adults, the elderly and young persons over 12 years of age:
the minimum effective dose should be used for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms.
If the product required for more than 10 days or if the symptoms worsen, the patient should consult a doctor.

1 capsule up to 3 times a day, as required, with water.Leave at least 4 hours between doses and do not take more than 1200mg (3 capsules) in any 24 hour period.

Not to be used for children under 12 years of age.

How does Anadin Ultra Capsules work?

Anadin ultra capsules contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, which is a type of medicine called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). (NB. Ibuprofen is also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.) Ibuprofen is a simple painkilling medicine used to relieve mild to moderate pain, inflammation and fever.

Anadin ultra works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase (COX). Cyclo-oxygenase is involved in the production of various chemicals in the body, some of which are known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in response to injury and certain diseases and conditions, and cause pain, swelling and inflammation. NSAIDs block the production of these prostaglandins and are therefore effective at reducing inflammation and pain.

Anadin ultra also reduces fever by reducing the production of prostaglandins. Fever is associated with an increase in prostaglandins in the brain, and these prostaglandins cause the body temperature to increase. By reducing prostaglandins in the brain, ibuprofen lowers body temperature and hence reduces fever.

Anadin ultra reduces inflammation and related pain and so can be used to relieve muscular and rheumatic aches and pains. It can also be used to relieve other painful conditions such as headaches, migraine, toothache, nerve pain (neuralgia) and period pain. It is also useful for reducing fever and discomfort associated with colds and flu.

Ingredients of Andin Ultra

Each Liquid-filled capsule of Anadin Ultra contains 200mg of ibuprofen.

In addition, Anadin Ultra capsules contain : Polyethylene Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Sorbitol, Sorbitan, Mannitol, Gelatin, Quinoline Yellow (E104), Patent Blue V(E131), Purified Water, Titanium Dioxide (E171), Shellac, Soya Lecithin and Simethicone.

Taken with water, the capsules are easy to swallow.

Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (known as NSAIDS), which work by relieving pain and reducing high temperature/fever.

Anadin Ultra is available in packs contaiing 4 to 16 oval, green, liquid-filled capsules.

Side effects of Andin Ultra

Disturbances of the gut such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion or abdominal pain
Bleeding from the stomach or intestine
Stomach or duodenal ulcer
Retention of water in the body tissues (fluid retention), resulting in swelling (oedema)
Headache
Dizziness
Depression
Confusion
Drowsiness
Balance disorders involving the inner ear (vertigo)
Sensation of ringing or other noise in the ears (tinnitus)
Visual disturbances
Abnormal reaction of the skin to light, usually a rash (photosensitivity)
Allergic reactions such as severe skin rashes, swelling of the lips, tongue and throat (angioedema) or narrowing of the airways (bronchospasm)
Kidney, liver or blood disorders
