Daktarin Cream
miconazole nitrate Ph.Eur 2% w/w
Daktarin Cream is used to treat infections of the skin which may appear on the hands, feet, outer ear, trunk, groin or scalp.It is also used to treat infected nappy rash and infections of nails.
Daktarin Cream works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection and some of the bacteria which may also be present.
REMEMBER - IF YOUR DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED THIS MEDICINE IT IS FOR YOU ONLY. NEVER GIVE IT TO ANYONE ELSE. IT MAY HARM THEM EVEN IF THEIR SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS YOURS.
Do not use Daktarin Cream if you think that you may have had an allergic reaction to any form of Daktarin, any of the inactive ingredients, or a similar antifungal in the past.An allergic reaction mey be recognised as a rash or itching at the site of infection which gets worse after appying Daktarin Cream.
Inform your pharmacist or doctor before using the medicine if this applies to you.They will then decide whether Daktarin Cream is suitable for you.
Do not put Daktarin Cream into the eyes - if it for application to the skin and nails only.
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast feeding, you should talk to your doctor who will decide if you can use Dactarin Cream.
How to use Daktarin Cream?
Each time you use the cream:
- wash the infected skin and dry it well.As many skin conditions are infectious, you should keep a towel and a flannel for your own use so that you do not infect anyone else.
For skin infections:
- apply Daktarin Cream to the affected area twice daily.
For nail infections:
- apply once or twice daily to the affected area.Rub Daktarin Cream gently into the affected area and surrounding skin with clean fingers.
After applying the cream:
- unless the infected skin is on your hands,wash your hands carefully to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or to other people.Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas should be washed and changed frequently.Daktarin Cream is non-greasy and should not stain clothes.
Relief from the symptoms may occur quickly but it is important that you continue to use Daktarin Cream for up to 10 days after the symptoms have cleared to prevent them from coming back.
