This medicine helps treat and prevent dry, rough, and itchy skin associated with conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. It contains three main ingredients that work together to rehydrate dry skin and prevent infections: benzalkonium chloride, liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate. Benzalkonium chloride is an antiseptic and helps fight and prevent skin infections. Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate are emollients and rehydrate dry skin by helping it retain moisture. They replace skin oils and form a waterproof barrier on the skin surface preventing water loss. This moisturises and softens the skin underneath and prevents it from drying out. This medicine is available in the form of a liquid which can either be added to your bath water or may be applied directly on to the skin. If this medicine is added to a bath of warm water, you should soak in it for 5-10 minutes and then pat dry your skin. Take care when getting into or out of the bath as the oils may make the bath slippery.
If you are using this medicine as a leave-on application do not apply excessive amounts to areas of skin folds such as the genitals or around the anus as this may cause skin irritation. Take care not to get this medicine into your eyes.
