How do I take/use this medicine?
Take Domperidone exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Take Domperidone on an empty stomach 15-30 minutes before meals.
Do not give Domperidone to children unless instructed by the doctor.
What should I take note of while using/taking this medicine?
Let your doctor know if your stomach problems seem to be getting worse or if Domperidone does not seem to help.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have stomach problems (such as stomach bleeding or intestinal blockage) or prolactinoma (a tumour that releases a hormone called prolactin).
Alert your doctor if you have heart, liver or kidney disease, or if you have breast cancer.
Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Domperidone.
Are there any restrictions on the type of food I can take?
Why do I need this medicine?
Domperidone helps to relieve nausea and vomiting. It also helps to reduce the symptoms of stomach wind and bloated stomach. Domperidone is also used to relieve reflux disease (also known as "heartburn", in which food or acid from your stomach backs up into your mouth, leaving a sour or bitter taste).
What side effects could I experience?
Side effects with Domperidone are not common, but may include headache and dry mouth.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
Can I take/use this with other medicines?
Alert your doctor quickly if you are taking any of the following medications:
- heart medicines, especially those used to control irregular heartbeat
- antidepressants known as MAOI, such as phenelzine, isocarboxazid
- other mood medicines such as mesoridazine, thioridazine
- painkillers such as codeine, morphine
Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
