1. Exfoliate. Smooth skin helps the color develop more evenly and last longer. For body, try Body Performance Exfoliating Body Polish.

2. Apply your self-tanner evenly, concentrating on one area at a time. Go lightly on areas where colour can develop darker: elbows, knees and ankles.

3. Blend thoroughly using small circular motions. Take your time so you don't miss any spots. Areas that often need special attention include under your chin and around your hairline.
