  • ESTRADIOL 75mcg/day

How do I take/use this medicine?

Use Estradiol exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Estradiol Transdermal is to be applied on the skin. The medication will be delivered into the body through the skin.

Estradiol Transdermal may be given in various forms, either as a patch or a gel.

If you have been given the PATCH:
1. Remove the patch from the pouch just before you use it.
2. Remove the backing and apply the patch to a clean, dry and intact area of the skin.
3. Firmly press the patch onto the skin with your palm.
4. Hold for about 10 seconds to ensure the patch sticks well to the skin.
5. You may apply the patch either on the torso, the abdomen or the buttocks. Do not apply Estradiol Transdermal on or near your breasts.
6. Try to avoid areas where the patch may be rubbed off by your clothes, such as the waistband area. Avoid areas which may be exposed to the sun.
7. Only ONE patch should be applied at any time, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you otherwise.

The patch will not fall out when you are bathing or swimming. However, if it does fall out, put the same patch back on and continue with the original schedule for that patch. If you really need to, you may use a new patch but continue to follow the original schedule.

Estradiol Transdermal must be kept on continuously until it is time to replace it with a new patch.

If you have been given the GEL:
1. Pump the prescribed dose from the bottle.
2. Apply to a clean, dry and intact area of skin, such as the arms, shoulders or inner thighs.
3. Spread the prescribed dose over the area of application. The area of application should be twice the area of the template provided.
4. The prescribed dose should be divided equally between each arm, shoulder or thigh.
5. Do not apply on or near the breasts or the vulval region.
6. After application, let the gel dry for 5 minutes before putting on your clothes.
7. You should apply the gel on your own. Avoid skin contact, especially with a male partner, for 1 hour after you have applied the gel.
8. Do not wash that particular area of skin or apply any other creams or lotions on that area for 1 hour after application.

Estradiol Transdermal must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using it even when you feel better. Do not stop using it unless instructed by your doctor.
