How do I take/use this medicine?
Take Megestrol exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. You may need to take Megestrol for some time before the full benefits can be felt. Continue to take it even when you feel better and do not stop taking it unless advised by your doctor to do so.
Take Megestrol together with food or immediately after a meal.
However, if you have been given Megace ES suspension, you may take it with or without food. This is because Megace ES is made differently from the other forms of Megestrol. Megace ES suspension is also more concentrated than other Megestrol liquid formulations. Make sure you know which liquid formulation you have been given, and take it exactly as directed by your doctor. Always ask your doctor if you are not sure.
