How do I take/use this medicine?
Apply Amorolfine exactly as directed by your doctor.
Do not apply more or less frequently than instructed by your doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not skip any doses. You should complete the treatment as directed by your doctor. If you don't, the infection will not clear completely.
You will need to use Amorolfine for some time before any improvement can be seen.
Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly.
Use the nail file provided and file down the infected areas of the nail. Clean the nail surface with the swab provided after filing. Dip the applicator provided into the bottle of Amorolfine and apply the solution onto the infected nail. Do not wipe the applicator on the edge of the bottle as it is designed to deliver a measured dose of medicine. Clean the applicator with the swab after using. Leave the nail to dry for 3 minutes.
For subsequent applications, always file down the affected nails and clean the nail surface before application.
DO NOT reuse the nail file on healthy nails as it may spread the infection to your healthy nails.
Do not use Amorolfine for anything else other than the purpose instructed by your doctor.
What should I take note of while using/taking this medicine?
Do not allow Amorolfine to come into contact with the eyes, ears, nose or mouth.
Do not swallow or inhale the solution.
Do not use nail varnish or artificial nails on the infected nail which is being treated with Amorolfine.
If you are using chemicals such as paint thinners or spirits, use a rubber or waterproof glove to protect the treated nail.
Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if they appear to have the same problem as you do.
Maintain good hygiene as this is important in managing fungal infections.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you are breastfeeding, pregnant or if you become pregnant while being treated with Amorolfine.
Why do I need this medicine?
Amorolfine is an antifungal medicine. It helps to treat fungal and yeast infections of the fingernails and toenails.
What side effects could I experience?
There may be some skin irritation such as redness, itching or a burning sensation around the nail when using Amorolfine. This is normal and is usually mild.
Alert your doctor if the skin irritation worsens.
The nail may become discoloured, broken or brittle. This may be due to the medicine or it may be due to the fungal infection itself. Inform your doctor if these side effects are severe.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Keep the bottle tightly closed after use.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
Can I take/use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are applying any other ointment or cream on the same area.
Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
